Announces an upcoming conference focused on sustainable logistics, organized by leading industry stakeholders and academic institutions. This event will explore specific solutions for sustainable logistics, emphasizing renewable energy use and the adoption of green production models in transportation and supply chains. The conference is part of the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition, the largest industry exhibition in Vietnam. It will cover essential services such as transportation and delivery, warehouse services and equipment, cold chain packing, and logistics technology applications.
Green and sustainable logistics prioritize environmentally friendly methods for the transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods. Significant changes are anticipated in this field as it attracts green funding from both international and domestic businesses. At a similar event in May, which focused on environmental, social, and governance criteria, a key government official emphasized the importance of green growth for economic progress. “Green and sustainable development is now a top priority for achieving economic prosperity alongside environmental sustainability and social equity,” stated the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.
A prominent industry leader noted that green logistics leverages cutting-edge technologies such as robots, the Internet of Things, and smart warehouses to analyze data, optimize routes, use renewable energy, and manage waste efficiently. These advancements aim to enhance production and operational capabilities, fostering a green and sustainable ecosystem.
Market research indicates that the green logistics market, valued at $1.3 trillion in 2022, is projected to reach $2.47 trillion by 2030, growing at a compound annual rate of 8.35 percent from 2023 to 2030. In Vietnam, the modern warehouse industry’s total supply scale is expected to reach nearly 3.9 million square meters by the end of 2023, with a substantial share held by foreign-invested enterprises.
An industry expert highlighted that technological solutions such as virtual twins, AI, quantum computers, and autonomous systems, along with financial and insurance solutions like trade credit insurance, are crucial for safeguarding businesses from non-payment risks. This ensures companies can focus on sustainable practices without disruption.
“Green transportation is also a vital link in a sustainable supply chain, demonstrated by the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to those using electric energy or sustainable fuels such as wind, solar, and biomass,” the expert added. This shift helps minimize carbon emissions and provides a sustainable energy source for transportation and warehouse operations.
