Korean and Taiwanese textile industries are joining forces to bolster their global competitiveness through enhanced collaboration in the supply chain. This initiative was highlighted by the leaders of both sectors during the 18th annual Korea-Taiwan Textile Industry Conference held in Busan.
At the conference, chaired by the Korea Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) and the Taiwan Textile Federation, discussions revolved around revitalizing industry exchanges among Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Emphasis was placed on addressing challenges arising from China’s expanding presence in the global textile market, including the surge in unsold inventory and the growth of Chinese e-commerce platforms.
Key topics included strategies to navigate the ongoing trade dispute between the United States and China, geopolitical uncertainties, and environmental sustainability practices. Both parties recognized the significance of collaboration in elevating the textile industry’s status and fostering innovation in manufacturing and distribution processes.
With a shared vision for the future, Korea and Taiwan are actively pursuing initiatives to establish new manufacturing and distribution structures, incorporating eco-friendly technologies and waste resource recycling. This collaborative endeavor aims to reinforce the position of Korean and Taiwanese textiles within the global supply chain.
