The aviation and logistics sectors in Pampanga are poised for significant growth, with substantial investment from three international players expanding their operations at the local international airport. In a recent statement, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Joshua Bingcang outlined plans to elevate Pampanga into a premier hub for aviation and logistics services. He highlighted the commitments of global companies investing in the area, citing their strategic expansion at the local international airport.
“With its own international airport and strategic accessibility to Northern Luzon and Metro Manila via expressways, Pampanga offers an ideal location for air freight and aviation services, attracting international attention,” Bingcang emphasized. “We anticipate these developments will reshape the landscape and establish Pampanga as a pivotal global logistics hub.” Earlier this year, the airport operator signed strategic partnerships with major global logistics firms for substantial expansions. These expansions are set to enhance integrated express services, supply chain logistics, and specialized healthcare logistics across the Asia Pacific region by 2026.
Moreover, agreements have been reached for the construction of a new hangar to support maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for aircraft and components, representing a significant investment in the local aviation infrastructure. To support these developments, BCDA plans to expand airside facilities at the airport, including taxiways, aprons, and access roads, to accommodate increased traffic and improve operational efficiency.
The expansion of the airport is part of broader economic initiatives, aimed at bolstering the Luzon Economic Corridor and attracting further investment opportunities. “In our commitment to attract more investments and sustain growth in Pampanga, BCDA is dedicated to delivering essential infrastructure and support,” Bingcang affirmed. “This initial phase of development is integral to our long-term vision for the airport, including plans for a second runway.”
