A leading logistics platform in China has officially entered the electric vehicle space, unveiling its first all-electric cargo van developed specifically for the freight and delivery industry. The new vehicle marks a significant step in enhancing urban logistics through sustainable mobility.
The cargo van, designed with increased carrying capacity and driver efficiency in mind, boasts a fully enclosed build with a modern, boxy silhouette. It offers a robust 7.8 cubic meters of cargo volume, outpacing many mid-sized competitors, and features practical components like swing-out rear doors and a side sliding door for streamlined loading and unloading.
With a maximum range of up to 305 kilometers, the van is well-suited for short-haul, last-mile delivery routes common in dense urban areas. It is powered by a 94 kW electric motor and offers multiple battery configurations, supporting diverse operational needs.
Manufacturing is being carried out through a strategic partnership with a well-established automotive firm, leveraging an OEM model to navigate China’s regulatory environment. The logistics firm is primarily responsible for the design and engineering of the vehicle and is actively recruiting automotive talent to scale its capabilities.
This move into electric commercial vehicle production aligns with China’s broader push toward decarbonization and digital transformation in logistics. The company behind the van already has a strong foothold in urban delivery networks, with over 1.68 million active drivers and a growing infrastructure of 940,000 charging stations across 338 cities. This ecosystem positions the van for seamless integration into real-world operations from day one.
By tapping into the booming new energy vehicle segment, this initiative is expected to create ripple effects across the supply chain, driving innovation in sustainable transportation, reducing delivery emissions, and reinforcing the push toward greener logistics solutions in Asia and beyond.
