The zero-tariff benefits of the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement have helped streamline cross-border transport, reduce costs, and promote smooth customs clearance—key advantages for supply chain efficiency.
With ASEAN countries imposing higher standards on product quality, Vietnam is aligning its supply chain strategies to focus on food safety, value-added processing, and traceability. These steps not only improve compliance with regional regulations but also elevate the competitiveness of Vietnamese products in regional markets.
The close proximity between Vietnam and other ASEAN member states presents further advantages in reducing lead times and optimizing logistics costs. As global freight rates to distant markets remain high, nearby trade partners offer greater resilience and sustainability in supply chain planning.
To enhance trade flow, Vietnam continues to collaborate with regional partners through intergovernmental meetings and working groups focused on agriculture and forestry. These engagements aim to resolve technical barriers, share market data, and support seamless movement of goods through regional supply chains.
Vietnam’s efforts are also supported by partnerships with other Asia-Pacific economies to boost technical capacity in food safety systems, digital certification processes, and sustainable post-harvest practices.
