A groundbreaking private 5G rollout is set to revolutionize logistics and manufacturing across three major sites in London, marking a transformative step for the region’s supply chain infrastructure. The initiative will see six private 5G networks deployed across strategic locations, including a major port, a large automotive manufacturing site, and an integrated logistics hub.
The technology upgrade spans approximately 1,700 acres and introduces edge-enabled, geo-redundant 5G networks designed to power real-time logistics orchestration, autonomous vehicle operations, predictive maintenance, and advanced AI and IoT applications. By utilizing high-performance 3.8-4.2 GHz spectrum, the deployment ensures robust, low-latency connectivity for complex, mission-critical supply chain operations.
This project is part of a larger initiative to revitalize the Thames Estuary region, aiming to enhance economic development, environmental sustainability, and innovation. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to drive new investments, improve supply chain visibility, and create jobs—targeting 5,000 new positions by 2030.
Use cases include autonomous control of cranes and yard tractors, real-time cargo tracking, and the deployment of environmental sensors to monitor emissions, air, and water quality—supporting a more sustainable and efficient logistics ecosystem.
The deployment is hosted on-site, ensuring direct operational control for stakeholders and aligning with broader objectives to create one of the most technologically advanced commercial corridors in Europe. The entire system will serve as the foundation for AI-powered decision-making, next-gen automation, and scalable smart logistics networks.
