Construction has begun on a new 147,500-square-foot industrial facility in Chicago, marking a significant step forward for urban logistics development. A groundbreaking ceremony took place at the site of the Pulaski 55 Logistics Center in Archer Heights, where completion is expected by December. Situated on a 7.5-acre parcel along I-55, the facility offers direct access to downtown Chicago. It will include up to 29 loading docks, a secure truck court, 36-foot ceilings, and two overhead drive-in doors. Notably, the site will also feature two EV charging stations.
This development comes at a time of robust growth in Chicago’s industrial sector, which saw a record delivery of 37.1 million square feet of industrial space in 2023. Demand from manufacturing and distribution sectors remains strong, particularly for modern facilities in urban areas with high barriers to entry. “The groundbreaking of the new logistics center at Pulaski 55 underscores the city’s commitment to expanding its industrial capabilities,” noted industry experts. “It reflects ongoing efforts to meet the increasing demand for quality industrial space in strategic urban locations.”
The project was initiated by a partnership that acquired the site in August 2023. Construction financing was secured through a local financial institution, and the project management is being handled by a reputable construction firm. Leasing efforts are being managed by a prominent real estate services provider.
