South Korea, the United States, and Japan convened in San Diego on Thursday for a critical economic security dialogue, focusing on cooperation in supply chains and emerging technologies, according to the presidential office.
This fourth session of the dialogue included senior officials from the respective nations’ economic security departments. They evaluated the effectiveness of an early warning system for supply chain issues and agreed to explore joint investment opportunities in the critical mineral sector.
The dialogue also identified potential joint research projects in core emerging technologies and emphasized the importance of information sharing among technology protection authorities. Participants expressed their support for South Korea’s recent hosting of an artificial intelligence summit and committed to ongoing discussions on global AI governance to enhance security and promote innovation.
Additionally, the delegates shared their respective data security concerns and agreed to coordinate on key infrastructure security policies. The next session of this trilateral dialogue is scheduled for the latter half of this year.
