South Korea and Australia have taken another step toward deepening their collaboration in the clean energy sector, particularly in strengthening regional supply chains. During a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in Calgary, President Lee Jae-myung and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized their commitment to resource diplomacy and economic resilience.
The leaders highlighted the importance of building robust, sustainable supply chains to support clean energy transitions across the Asia-Pacific region. Both countries, rich in natural resources and technological capabilities, are well-positioned to complement each other in the development of critical materials, clean technologies, and energy infrastructure.
In addition to clean energy cooperation, discussions touched on broader strategic areas, including defense industry collaboration. President Lee extended an official invitation to Prime Minister Albanese for the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting, which will be held in Gyeongju, South Korea.
The talks also reinforced the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations, initially established in 2021, which continues to guide their multifaceted cooperation in trade, security, and sustainable development.
This meeting underscores the growing regional momentum toward strengthening clean energy supply chains that are secure, diversified, and future-ready.
