The Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyễn Hồng Diên, has called on international logistics associations to provide practical solutions to help Vietnamese businesses address challenges posed by increased shipping freight rates, port congestion, and a shortage of empty containers.
In a recent communication to a leading global logistics organization, Minister Diên highlighted the severe impact these issues are having on the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in the global market. He emphasized the need for Vietnam to learn from the experiences and solutions implemented by member countries of this organization, particularly in managing port surcharges.
Minister Diên urged the international body to use its influence within organizations related to import-export, logistics, and supply chain management to advocate for Vietnam’s position in the global value chain. This includes prioritizing appropriate transportation methods and equipment for the Vietnamese market.
Additionally, he proposed that the international logistics association support the Vietnamese government’s strategy to position Vietnam as a manufacturing hub and a new international transshipment location in Asia. He also requested that Vietnamese organizations be allowed to participate in the association’s training and certification programs to bolster local expertise.
Minister Diên assured that his ministry would coordinate with export industries, logistics associations, and enterprises to develop responsive strategies that minimize risks and losses from future challenges. He expressed confidence that cooperation with the international body would continue to grow, enhancing its role and supporting Vietnam’s integration into the global logistics market.
The organization in question is a global entity representing the freight forwarding and logistics industry, with national logistics associations and activities spanning numerous countries and connecting thousands of businesses worldwide.
