In a significant move towards enhancing supply chain collaboration, a joint effort led by industry stakeholders from the Philippines and Germany is underway. The initiative, aimed at fostering stronger partnerships and reshaping trade dynamics between the two nations, signals a new chapter in supply chain development.
Marie Antoniette Mariano, President of the collaborating organization, highlighted the core objective of the initiative – to facilitate meaningful partnerships between businesses in the Philippines and Germany. This collaborative endeavor, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, holds promise for both regions.
The launch event, held on April 22, garnered substantial participation, underscoring the significance of the initiative. With over 120 participants, including 87 suppliers and 27 buyers, it marked a milestone in fostering trade relations between German companies and suppliers in the Asean region.
Christopher Zimmer, Executive Director of the organizing body, expressed optimism about the growing momentum between the Philippines and Germany, particularly in light of recent diplomatic visits and trade negotiations. The initiative aligns with efforts to elevate the Philippines’ presence on the global stage, emphasizing the country’s role as a reliable partner in the supply chain landscape.
Supported by the Department of Trade and Industry, the initiative aims to facilitate business-to-business meetings, providing Philippine manufacturers with a platform to showcase their products and capabilities to potential German buyers. The positive feedback received thus far indicates the smooth progress of over 21 meetings between Philippine suppliers and buyers.
