Plans have been unveiled for a new national distribution center spanning 311,551 sq. ft. on a 25.1-acre site. Designed to meet BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standards and achieve an EPC A rating, the facility aims to set benchmarks in sustainability with Net Zero Carbon in Construction compliance. This initiative marks a pivotal step in a strategic growth plan announced in 2021, aimed at significantly expanding supply chain capacities. The ambitious goal is to support a network of over 3,000 retail outlets across the UK, enhancing the direct supply of ambient and chilled products.
Tritax Symmetry, the developer behind the project, is also seeking approval for an additional 100,000 sq. ft. expansion, highlighting the center’s critical role in Symmetry Park, Kettering, Northamptonshire. This site, spanning 136 acres, holds outline planning permission for a total logistics floor space of 2,310,000 sq. ft. Pending regulatory approvals, the new national distribution center is slated to commence operations in the first half of 2027. Strategically located at Junction 9 of the A14 with convenient access to the M1/M6 interchange within a 21-minute drive, the facility promises to optimize distribution efficiency.
Agents including BNP, Cushman and Wakefield, and DTRE have facilitated the project on behalf of Tritax Symmetry, supported by Wright Silverwood representing the undisclosed company. This development underscores a significant investment in logistics infrastructure, enhancing operational capabilities while contributing positively to local employment and economic growth in the region.
