A newly inaugurated logistics center in Xi’an is set to fortify trade links between China and Kazakhstan, as well as enhance connectivity with Central Asia and Europe. This significant project, established in partnership with Kazakhstan, features a terminal at the dry port of Xi’an with a capacity exceeding 66.5 thousand tons of DFE (twenty-foot equivalent) per year. The inauguration of this terminal aims to not only expand the export footprint of Kazakhstani products but also streamline delivery times, solidifying Kazakhstan’s position as a reliable transit hub in Eurasia.
Xi’an, renowned as China’s transit center hub, hosts the largest dry port in the country. Remarkably, up to 40% of the total volume of container trains traversing between China and the EU is consolidated at this pivotal location.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, unveiled a state-of-the-art Innovation Center developed through a collaboration between the national company KTZ and its Chinese counterpart. This innovation hub, spearheaded by Nurlan Sauranbayev, Chairman of the Board of NC KTZ, is geared towards implementing the Smart Railway project, which offers digital solutions to enhance the efficiency of railway transport operations.
Highlighting the broader significance of the initiative, President Tokayev remarked, “This project aligns seamlessly with the overarching vision of the ‘One Belt, One Road’ global initiative, as presented by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 during his visit to Kazakhstan. The Innovation Center will serve as a catalyst for advancing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, fostering enhanced trade and economic collaboration across Eurasia. I extend my gratitude to all stakeholders involved in this endeavor for their fruitful partnership, which has enabled the swift completion of construction.
