India’s logistics and air cargo landscape is preparing for a major transformation with the upcoming launch of a new dedicated cargo airline, scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026. The airline plans to kick start its services with one to two Airbus A330-300 aircraft converted from passenger to freighter (P2F), enhancing airfreight capacity across critical trade routes.
Efforts are already underway to secure an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), a key step toward operational readiness. The new airline is expected to operate either as a subsidiary or a standalone entity, backed by strategic financial partnerships to strengthen its foundation.
The Airbus A330-300P2F aircraft, known for its ability to carry up to 62 tonnes of payload over a range of approximately 3,700 nautical miles, perfectly aligns with the growing need for efficient mid-size freight operations. Aircraft conversion is expected to commence in the final quarter of 2025, with deliveries anticipated by early 2026.
The initial focus will be on establishing key hubs in Delhi and Mumbai, supporting cargo movements between India, Europe, and Africa. This expansion is set to provide much-needed reliability and connectivity for India’s export-driven industries, offering businesses faster and more consistent logistics solutions.
Originally conceptualized in 2022, the airline’s launch had been delayed due to market volatility and external disruptions. However, with improved market stability and stronger demand forecasts, the initiative is now gaining momentum, aiming to strengthen India’s position in the global air cargo network.
By selecting the A330 platform, the new cargo carrier ensures a faster route to market entry, balancing operational efficiency with scalability to meet future logistics demands.
