Kyrgyzstan took a major step toward strengthening its position as a regional trade hub with the groundbreaking of a large trade and logistics center in the northern Chui region, close to the border with Kazakhstan. This new facility is set to significantly enhance the supply chain and logistics infrastructure in Central Asia, creating new opportunities for regional trade growth and efficiency.
Located just north of Bishkek, the Manas Trade and Logistics City will span 700 hectares and include vital components such as a trading hub, an international exhibition center, bonded warehouses, retail spaces, hotels, and residential compounds. The development, a collaborative effort between international investors and the Kyrgyz government, aims to streamline trade flows and modernize logistics capabilities in the region.
With an investment of $700 million in the first phase, the project is poised to become a game-changer for supply chains across Central Asia, offering a strategic point for the movement of goods and services. Once complete, the center will accommodate 30,000 retail outlets, enhancing cross-border trade and contributing to Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth.
The new trade and logistics city is expected to generate thousands of jobs, boost exports, and improve supply chain efficiencies by reducing transportation times and costs. The facility will play a crucial role in facilitating smoother trade between Central Asia and other global markets, helping to meet growing demand and making Kyrgyzstan a critical link in the global supply chain network.
As Kyrgyzstan’s trade volumes continue to rise, with bilateral trade reaching $20 billion in 2023, the launch of this logistics hub marks a significant milestone in the country’s commitment to improving its supply chain infrastructure and supporting regional economic development.
