The Philippine Economic Zone Authority is implementing advanced strategies to revolutionize the logistics and supply chain sectors, aiming to attract more industrial investments and bolster ecozones.
At the Future of Logistics 2024 forum in Makati City on May 29, the authority’s director-general highlighted transformative measures to enhance service delivery. Key initiatives include automating systems and processes and developing an off-dock container yard within zones to streamline container exchanges. Plans are also underway for the establishment of ecozone container freight stations and a logistics park, marking a new frontier in ecozone development.
A crucial approach involves multi-industry infrastructure convergence, ensuring comprehensive infrastructure for zone locators through collaboration with government agencies. Strengthening partnerships with customs authorities is also a priority to maintain seamless operations to and from the zones.
Efforts are ongoing to work with lawmakers to update investment laws and regulations to align with international standards. The planned Luzon Economic Corridor, supported by G7 countries, is expected to enhance connectivity among Subic Bay, Clark, Manila, and Batangas, facilitating strategic investments and high-impact infrastructure projects.
The inclusion of logistics service enterprises in the new Strategic Investment Priorities Plan aims to attract more logistics companies to support new investments within ecozones. This growth will benefit the entire supply chain and logistics sectors, contributing to a more vibrant economy.
