A major expansion in electric vehicle (EV) supply chain solutions is underway in the Asia Pacific region, with the establishment of three new Centers of Excellence (COEs) in 2024. These hubs will enhance end-to-end logistics capabilities, supporting the growing demand for EV production, battery materials, and aftermarket services.
With Asia projected to account for 63% of the 115 million new EVs expected to be sold worldwide over the next five years, a strong and compliant supply chain ecosystem is essential. The newly established COEs—located in China, Singapore, and Indonesia—will serve as specialized hubs, providing expertise and customized solutions for EV manufacturing, distribution, and battery logistics.
These centers are part of a broader global network spanning multiple countries, including Italy, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. Additional COEs will be launched in key EV markets such as India, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand, further strengthening the infrastructure needed for efficient EV supply chains.
As the industry evolves, there is a growing focus on managing the lifecycle of EV components, including the repurposing and recycling of end-of-life batteries. Advanced logistics solutions are being developed to support this sector, leveraging best practices from Europe and the Middle East, as well as a market-leading cross-border freight network in the ASEAN region.
Comprehensive supply chain solutions are now available for various stages of EV production. This includes capital equipment and battery material logistics for gigafactories, inbound-to-manufacturing (I2M) solutions for EV assembly plants, specialized transportation for finished vehicles, and aftermarket distribution services across key Asia Pacific markets.
This expansion highlights the increasing importance of supply chain innovation in the EV sector, ensuring that manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors can meet growing demand while maintaining efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
