China’s e-commerce logistics sector is seeing remarkable growth, with the latest logistics index reaching 115 points in October, up 0.6 points from the previous month. The business volume sub-index surged to 133.7 points in October, marking its highest level in nearly five years. This growth is a result of enhanced efficiency and capacity in the logistics networks that support China’s vibrant e-commerce landscape. Particularly notable is the robust performance in rural areas, where the business volume reached 132.2 points, continuing a steady increase month over month. The northeast region of China experienced the largest rebound, up 7.2 points, reflecting a broader trend of increasing logistical activity across the country.
A key factor behind this surge was the highly successful online shopping festival at the end of October, which led to a significant spike in parcel deliveries. In just three days, 1.92 billion express packages were processed, reflecting a 48.7% year-on-year increase. The large influx of orders during this period underscores the growing importance of efficient and scalable e-commerce logistics networks.
With consumer spending remaining strong and logistics networks continuing to expand, the e-commerce logistics index is expected to maintain its upward trajectory into November.
