China is making significant strides in supply chain innovation with the opening of a cutting-edge supply chain management center in Jiading District. Officially inaugurated on September 24, this impressive facility is the largest self-built supply chain management center in the country, covering an area of 61,000 square meters and completed in just over two years.
The center is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including automated logistics and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), as well as rooftop photovoltaic panels that emphasize sustainability. Its primary goal is to create an efficient, intelligent, and environmentally friendly hub that enhances supply chain operations across the region.
The CEO highlighted that this center not only addresses the supply chain needs of East China but also facilitates cold chain integration nationwide, showcasing the country’s commitment to world-class supply chain management. The facility includes a diverse range of storage solutions, featuring ambient temperature and cold chain storage, as well as office space and support facilities to streamline operations.
A key highlight of the center is its advanced cold storage warehouse, which incorporates a 12-layer zone with ASRS technology. This innovative design provides over 9,000 pallet slots within a compact 2,500-square-meter area, improving space utilization by more than 20 percent and enhancing operational efficiency through automation.
Looking ahead, the facility plans to implement a high-density four-way shuttle storage system by the end of the year, enabling personnel to focus on more value-added tasks and further optimizing operations.
The rooftop photovoltaic system, with a capacity of 1.5 megawatts, is anticipated to generate over 1.5 million kilowatt-hours annually, significantly supporting the energy needs of cold storage operations and underscoring the commitment to sustainability.
Having established a robust supply chain management system over 37 years, the company currently operates 33 logistics hubs nationwide, effectively serving over 1,700 cities and towns. This new center exemplifies the positive developments in China’s supply chain landscape, paving the way for greater efficiency and innovation.
