South Korea’s cosmetics industry continues to shine on the global stage, with exports reaching a record high in the first nine months of 2025. The surge reflects the country’s expanding trade partnerships and robust supply chain that connects beauty products to consumers worldwide.
According to the Korea Customs Service, cosmetic exports totaled $8.52 billion from January to September — a 15.4% increase compared to the previous year and the highest level ever recorded for the period. In the third quarter alone, exports rose 17.6% to $3 billion, marking the ninth consecutive quarter of growth and a new record for third-quarter performance.
The United States led as the largest destination for Korean cosmetics, representing 19.7% of exports, followed by China at 18.5% and Japan at 9.7%. Despite slight declines in some traditional markets, the continued expansion into new regions highlights South Korea’s ability to diversify trade routes and strengthen logistics resilience.
The Korea Customs Service noted that Korean cosmetics reached 205 countries, the widest distribution network in the industry’s history. This achievement underscores the efficiency of South Korea’s global supply chain operations, which have allowed exporters to adapt quickly to shifting market demands and expand their international footprint.
By product category, skincare items such as moisturizers made up 41.7% of total exports, followed by sunscreens and anti-aging products at 25.5%, and color cosmetics like lipsticks and eye shadows at 1.4%.
This continued growth highlights how South Korea’s beauty industry has become a driving force in international trade, supported by innovative production strategies and sustainable supply chain practices that ensure timely delivery and quality across markets.
